We are excited to announce the return of the national Writing By Degrees annual conference! Now in its fourteenth year, Writing By Degrees is a unique experience organized by Binghamton University graduate students, for graduate students, celebrating writing, literature, pedagogy, and community building. We are honored to host this year's conference at Binghamton University's state-of-the-art Downtown Center in Binghamton, New York, on March 14-15, 2014. The conference will feature panels, readings, and presentations by accomplished keynote speakers, as well as other events and informal gatherings. Join us this year to continue this exciting and innovative tradition as we explore craft, language, the creative writing job market, the process of editing and publishing, and much more!

Writing By Degrees is truly an extraordinary conference--put on by graduate students, for graduate students, it combines a sophistication about the art of creating literature with a fresh passion for the subjects it embraces. The panels showed a terrific range of topics (electronic publishing and a previously undiscovered Sylvia Plath poem!) and the readings were spectacular--not just powerful keynote readers but graduate student readings that showed the future direction of American letters. A very exciting couple of days I would eagerly return to.
